Time Questions

“Time” Questions 

  1. Why did the song begin with alarm clocks and a “tick-tock” sound?
  2. Identify examples of alliteration in the song lyrics by circling them.
  3. Identify examples of internal rhyme by underlining them.
  4. Identify examples of end rhyme by putting a square around them.
  5. Look at your definition of metaphor. The writer mentions running and “missing the starting gun” in the song. Use this information to identify the metaphor in the song.
  6. What effect do all of the literary elements above create?
  7. What do you think the sun symbolizes?
  8. A writer chooses words to create tone. These words create an OVERALL mood. A musician chooses notes to create tones. The tones also create an overall mood in a song. Think of a word to describe the tone of the song. Think of a word to describe the mood.
  9. What could the writer mean when he wrote “The song is over. Thought I’d something more to say?”
  10. Henry David Thoreau, a very famous American author, wrote, “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation.” How could this quote connect to this song?
