  5. I am from unwashed dishes

from lost phones and scattered possessions

I am from the secure cul de sac, sheltered in the corner bricked

    Vintage house

I am from the trees in the back

    The little tree you saved

whose long gone limbs I remember

    as we’ve grown together.

I’m from late movie nights and thanksgiving camping trips

from The Cookie Monster and Dora

I’m from midnight coffee breaks and Saturday morning service

and from therapy trips to the store

I’m from lazybone and “don’t be another statistic”

and from as constant as the stars above

I’m from summer trips to Mexico

I’m from Irving and El Salvador

    Pupusas and stinky cheese

    From Emily’s kindergarten picture day

    with crooked bangs and tiara

a library full of albums from road trips, school trips, and family trips

    designated to the almost-always-empty shelf

With their familiar crinkle of pages from friends inspections
